A18 used ENGLISH HARBOUR, Antigua postal history
1885 cover to R.V. Sherring, Hallatrow, Nr. Bristol with strip of three, single QV 1d carmine-red tied "A18" (a second type) with ENGLISH HARBOUR A/DE 4 85 cds alongside. Top left with re-instated "via Saint Thomas", reverse with most of flap removed showing Hallatrow and Bristol DE 21 85 cds. Sold "as is".
Note: This A18 cancel is not of the type proofed and sent out in 1858. It is now thought that the cover is contrived and fabricated in the early 1950's.

ST. GEORGES, Bermuda postmark
presumed forgeries, similar Type PM5, on QV 4d orange-brown CA wmk (SG.28a, Cat.£60 used) and QV ¼d on 1/-, the former showing smaller than normal dates slugs of "JUN 13", both strikes with tinge of blue in ink. Not previously seen.

BRITISH GUIANA stamps:
1876 96c olive-bistre, scarce used Panelli forgery with impressed Crown CC wmk (SG.134, genuine used Cat.£250).
In February 1878 a large number of the 96c bistre stamps disappeared from the Stamp Commissioner's custody, and from that date they were withdrawn from circulation (see T+H Page 109). Only one printing of 30,000 less 21,132 surcharged less "large number" lost equals those used for postage

GRENADA (Smeets forgery) stamp:
1902 KE7 5/- green & carmine (SG.65, Cat.£80), a forgery believed to have been cleverly executed by the Belgian forger Smeets by bleaching out the design of used copies of the 1886 Ceylon QV 5c dull purple (SG.195) to a give a "blank" CA wmk P.14 stamp; only immediately given away by the indelible ink partial Ceylonese village cds ending in LA which could not be removed, added forged partial ST. DAVID'S cds thought dated C/JY 2 06.

forgeries of the 1856 1c black/magenta (world's rarest stamp) and 1856 4c black/blue tied to piece by forged DEMERARA FE 22 1856 dbl-arcs on piece addressed The Lord Bishop of Guiana, Georgetown.
The DEMERARA dbl-arc with the same FE 22 1856 date cancels the Barlow 1c vermilion strip of four cover Townsend (1969 sale) lot 26, and Great (1970 sale) lot 38
